Scope of Work:
- Construction Management Contract of the 2nd Floor for McMaster University’s, Michael G. DeGroote Centre of Learning and Discovery (MDCL).
- Interior fit-up of existing shelled space located on the 2nd floor into new state-of-the-art laboratories, offices and classrooms for five (5) primary occupants: Centre for Microbial Chemistry Biology, Chemical Biology/Biochemistry, Michael G. DeGroote Institute for Infectious Disease Research, Education Services and Michael G. DeGroote Institute for Pain Research.
- CFI Funding Compliance
- Installation of complete Mechanical, Electrical and Building Automation Systems and Infrastructure located in Penthouse Level and distributed on 2nd floor to service Laboratory, Institute, Administration and Teaching areas.
- Construction of new 2nd Floor Bridge linking the MDCL Building to McMaster Health Sciences Centre
Major Accomplishments:
- Achieved Substantial Completion 10 weeks ahead of schedule.
- Under Budget
- Successful in converting project execution to a day shift format resulting in costs savings for the Owner.
- Five (5) Sector Phased Construction.
- Multi-phased tendering of sub-contracts to suit design phasing and budget allocations.
- Development and Coordination of project specific procedures with University Staff for interruption of existing services.
- Understanding of sensitivity for ongoing research and experiments on other floors within Building.
- Liaison with campus risk management department.
- Conscious of key learning environment.
- Understanding that “University’s Business is students not construction” and therefore cannot interrupt labs or classes.
- All work within close proximity to exam and lecturing facilities within Building.
